The VDS Dance Program runs eight months from September through May.
Fall 2021 classes begin September 7th.
To benefit the most from the Village Dance Studio program, we suggest the following curriculum:
Creative Movement (Ages 3-4)
Pre-Ballet (Ages 4-5)
Ballet & Tap or Ballet Groove (Ages 5-6)
Dance Medley or Ballet Tap II (Ages 6-7)
Jazz & Tap I, Jazz Styles I, Hip Hop Barre and/or Beg. Ballet I (Ages 7-9)
Jazz & Tap II or Jazz Styles II and/or Beg. Ballet I or II (Ages 8-10)
Jazz & Tap III, Jazz Styles III and/or Beg. Ballet II or III and/or Modern Fusion (Ages 9-12)
Jazz & Tap IV and/or Beg. Ballet III or Int. Ballet and/or Modern (Ages 11-14)
Intermediate / Advanced Jazz and/or Modern and Intermediate / Advanced Ballet (Ages 12 & up)

CREATIVE MOVEMENT (CM) ages 3-4
From a structured yet creative approach, this class teaches dance fundamentals to the beginning dancer focusing on balance, coordination and agility.
PRE-BALLET (PB) ages 4-5
This creative movement class introduces basic ballet technique focusing on alignment, strength, coordination and vocabulary.
BALLET & TAP I (BTP) ages 5-6
The basic techniques of ballet and tap are developed in this class focusing on alignment, rhythm and loco motor movements.
BALLET GROOVE (BG) ages 5-6
This fun movement class combines beginning ballet and jazz dance technique to teach alignment, strength and coordination.
DANCE MEDLEY (DM) ages 6-7
This upbeat class will teach dance technique and explore the different styles of jazz and tap. The focus is on developing alignment, strength and rhythmic awareness.
HIP HOP BARRE I (JB) ages 7-9
This combo class starts with a ballet barre warm up and then turns it up for a fun Hip Hop class.
CLASSICAL BALLET BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE ages 7-13
This class is designed to educate students in the discipline of Classical Ballet Technique. This is a highly structured and technical class with the focus on etiquette, vocabulary and alignment. Students may advance with the approval of the instructor.
CONTEMPORARY BALLET ages 12-18
This is a highly structured and technical class with the focus on core strength, alignment and performance. Students may advance with the approval of the instructor.
JAZZ STYLES I, II, III, IV, INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED ages 7-16
This class focuses on dance technique utilizing both the classical style of jazz dance and the more contemporary street styles of hip hop.
JAZZ AND JAZZ & TAP I, II, III, IV AND INTERMEDIATE ages 7-16
This class focuses on dance technique utilizing both the classical style and also the more contemporary street styles of jazz dance. The student will also focus on learning basic tap techniques including classical and rhythm styles. Levels II and above may advance with the approval of the instructor.
JAZZ ADVANCED ages 12-16
This intense class focuses on dance technique utilizing both the classical style and also the more contemporary street styles of jazz dance. Dancers must be enrolled in Advanced or Intermediate Ballet.
ADVANCE DANCER'S PROGRAM high school
Dancers are selected by the instructor from the Advanced Ballet and Jazz classes. Dancers study contemporary ballet, jazz and modern. Workshops and private lessons are available to students seeking higher education.
MODERN FUSION BEGINNING, INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED ages 9-18
This is a modern dance class designed to enhance a dancer’s technical skills, strength and coordination. Classes are divided by age and level. Intro and beginning Modern will cover basic technique and improvisation. Intermediate will focus on technique and composition. Advanced will focus on technique and partnering.
POINTE ages 13-17
This classical ballet class is designed for the serious dancer. Students must have 2 years in the Classical Ballet class and be enrolled in Intermediate or Advanced Contemporary Ballet and must be recommended by the instructor.
ADVANCED TAP ages 12-17
This class utilizes both classical and rhythmic styles of tap dance with a strong focus on technique.
