Village Dance Studio
Dance is an
art form. Our goal is to create a balance of structure and creativity,
enjoyment and respect, technique and spirit, body and mind...
(Girls
and Boys: Ages 3-7)
Focusing
on the basic fundamentals of dance and movement, this program allows
young dancers to build a strong foundation that is developmentally
appropriate and fun. Classes are conducted in creative movement,
pre-ballet, tap and dance medley. Most of these classes are offered in
eight-month sessions, September - May and include a final Spring
Performance.
(Girls
and Boys: Ages 8-18) The
Studio offers several programs for dancers ages 8 and above.
From beginning to advanced levels, dancers can enjoy classes in classical
ballet, tap, jazz and modern. Classes at the Village offer a strong
foundation in dance technique in a relaxed yet structured atmosphere.
Most classes in this program are for eight-month sessions, September-May
and include a final Spring Performance.

| For
the more serious dancers we offer additional programs such as
the Advanced Dancers Program and the Village Performing
Company. Dancers
are selected for these programs by audition and by application.
|
The
Advanced Dancers Program selects
dancers to study the disciplines of classical ballet, contemporary jazz,
rhythmic tap and modern dance. Dancers for this program are selected
based on their abilities, commitment to dance and their desire to learn.
This program will incorporate workshops in the following areas of study;
dance history, improvisation, musical awareness and composition.
Dancers from the Classical Ballet III and / or Jazz V class are eligible
for advancement into this program.

The Village Performing
Company provides
dancers ages 8 and above performance experience and knowledge from basic
to advanced levels. It is the focus of this class to educate dancers on
the skills of performing, choreography and theatrical production which
are touched upon but not fully developed in the technique classes.
Understanding what it takes from behind the scenes to the night of the
performance allows dancers to build self-esteem, friendships
and leadership skills. To meet the technical demands of choreography in
this class, dancers must also participate in a technique class of either
classical ballet or jazz. Classical ballet training is required in the
more advanced groups.
